Contrast
One of the techniques used in Photography is Contrast which makes an image stand out by showing colour on a part that is eye-catching. For this image I took a picture of the Whitefish Bay boat docked in the canal.
Filling the frame Framing
This photo technique is called "Filling The Frame" following that this technique is also known as SCUFI (Shoot Close-up For Impact)
|
Another technique used in photography is called "Framing". Using foreground elements such as trees to make a frame. For this photo, I took a picture of the coast of Port Colborne by standing on frozen Lake Erie.

Leading lines Negative space
In this photo, we can see the photo technique known as leading lines which conveys distance and relationship between background and foreground while it is also eye-catching. I stood on the coast of the marina and took a picture of the sunset around 5:30PM.
|
The negative space technique is used to balance out what the building occupies. Areas of the picture that contain nothing can also make the image stand out and make it more visual. I took a picture of the ADM Milling factory and also cropped out the sky.

Rhythm Rule of thirds
This technique is known as rhythm when a ground of objects creates a pattern such as tree bark as seen in this photo and becomes a point of interest as a whole. This is the pattern of a tree.
|
The rule of thirds states that an image should be imagined as divided into 9 equal squares. Horizontal and vertical lines should be equally spaced while the important elements are placed along these lines. This is a picture of my little brother standing on the ice of Lake Erie.

Viewpoint
A viewpoint technique is portrayed as shooting a picture from either down at ground level or from high above. Viewpoint photos greatly affect the message that the shot conveys. This is a photo of Port Colborne's water tower that I took from the ground.
